Noni Brooks, 33, and her daughter Jermani, 5, were sitting in a car late Sunday when a green sports utility vehicle drove up and a man got out and started shooting.

Both the mother and the daughter were shot in the head.

Jermani was taken to a hospital where she later died. Noni Brooks remains hospitalized.

The suspect fled the scene. A neighbor's home security camera captured footage that helped police identify the vehicle used in the shooting.

Police later found the green SUV. Further investigation led them to a home that SWAT members surrounded early Monday morning. The suspect was determined not to be there.
