Video shows thieves stealing $5 million in jewelry from Atlanta store

ATLANTA, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Three people who stole more than $5 million in jewelry from an Atlanta store in November are still at large, police said as a surveillance video was released.

The video, from the Elif Fine Jewelry store in Atlanta's Buckhead section, shows the suspects using hammers to break glass cases and steal rings, bracelets and watches, WSB-TV, Atlanta, reported Friday.

"Very bold. You get the impression that these suspects knew what they were doing," said Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon.

The police report added one suspect threatened to shoot employees if they did not lay face down in a break room in the back of the store during the heist.

An employee of a nearby store said the suspects drove away in an SUV with Florida license plates.

Police admit they are having a hard time solving the Nov. 7 robbery.

"The men are masked so it's difficult to make out their faces. We're still hoping that by releasing the video, someone out there will be able to help us out," Lyon said.
