Robbers steal $1 million in jewelry

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Police say they're searching for a pair of robbers who allegedly stole $1 million in jewelry from two jewelers preparing to make a delivery in Los Angeles.

The heist happened Friday when two jewelers from Palm Desert, Calif., were driving to deliver jewelry to a store near a shopping mall, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The jewelers pulled into a parking garage because they needed to use a bathroom, police said. A silver BMW blocked the jewelers' car in and two men got out of the vehicle. One held a gun while the other broke a back window in the jewelers' car and snatched the goods, police said.

Police investigators said they believe the robbers had been following the jewelers.
