Young terrorism suspect charged with plan to kill FBI agent

CHICAGO, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old terrorism suspect from the Chicago area was indicted Thursday on a charge of soliciting the murder of the FBI agent whose work led to his arrest.

Adel Daoud of Hillside, Ill., allegedly tried to arrange the killing from behind bars after his arrest last September, federal prosecutors said. He was charged last year with setting off what he believed to be a bomb outside a Chicago bar.

The indictment charges Daoud with one count each of solicitation of murder or attempted murder of a federal agent, murder-for-hire and obstruction of justice.

Investigators say that Daoud came to the attention of the FBI in 2011 through statements he made online. Agent A, who posed as a terrorist, played a critical role in the investigation.

After his arrest, Daoud allegedly tried to arrange to have Agent A killed, having learned he was working for the FBI.
