DENVER, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A man who was allegedly assisted by a deputy in escaping from a Denver jail in April pleaded guilty Monday to robbery and escape charges.
Felix Trujillo, 24, was then sentenced to 10 years for the escape from the Downtown Denver Detention Center and 24 years for his role in a 2012 robbery, court records said.

He was awaiting sentencing in the robbery case when he walked out of the detention center April 7 in a deputy's cap and jacket. Deputy Matthew Andrews, 36, has been charged with helping Trujillo escape, the Denver Post reported.
Denver police say Andrews told co-workers he aided Trujillo's escape because he had been threatened by Trujillo and told there was a murder contact out on himself and his family.
