COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 25 (UPI) -- A Columbus, Ohio, man sued the operator of Hollywood Casino Columbus after $35,800 he won from the casino was stolen from his home hours later.
David A. Hayes, 29, he won the money playing blackjack and when he went to cash out his casino chips, he asked the clerk for a check. In the lawsuit, he alleges the clerk didn't respond to his request, so he said, "Well, I guess it's a straight cash business."
He said the clerk nodded her head, then gave him 358 $100 bills in a stapled manilla envelope and told him he should take future winnings in check form.
In the process of verifying Hayes' information, he said the clerk wrote his address down on a piece of paper, which she held up to him to confirm, making it "visible to anyone in the vicinity.
Hours later at his home, Hayes said he was awaken by two armed men who demanded "the money you won tonight."
The casino "breached its duty to maintain the confidentiality of customer financial transactions conducted at the gaming cage," the lawsuit alleges.
Ronald L. Jones, 26, and Ryan C. Bundy, 20, were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery in the case and are next due in court Monday, The Columbus Dispatch reported Thursday.
