Boy, 9, found hanging from clothesline in Minneapolis, dies

MINNEAPOLIS, July 2 (UPI) -- A 9-year-old boy died four days after he was found hanging from an outdoor clothesline in a Minneapolis vacant lot, police said.

The unidentified boy was discovered unconscious Thursday evening by a neighbor, with a clothesline cord looped around his neck and his feet grazing the ground, the St. Paul, Minn., Pioneer Press reported Tuesday.

The neighbor cut him down, called 911 and administered CPR. Emergency responders detected a pulse on the boy and took him to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn.

He was transferred to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, where he died Monday night, Minneapolis Police Department spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington said.

The boy had been seen earlier in the day playing in the lot with a group of children ages 7 and 8. They are being interviewed by police to learn what led to the incident, Barrington said.
