BOSTON, June 4 (UPI) -- Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the alleged Boston Marathon bomber, says people are sending him donations, a recording of a phone call he had with his mother reveals.
He added that someone had set up a bank account for him, ABC News reported Tuesday.
"I'm already eating and have been for a long time," Tsarnaev told his mother last week in a telephone conversation with his mother in Dagestan from his Boston hospital bed.
Tsarnaev was shot and wounded during a standoff with police a few days after he and his brother, Tamerlan, allegedly set off two bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15, killing three people and injuring nearly 300.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, has been charged with using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction.
Erika Brannock, the last of the bombing victims to be discharged, left Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on Monday, hospital officials said.
Brannock, 29, a teacher from Baltimore, was near the finish line waiting for her mother to finish the marathon when the bombings occurred, The Boston Globe said.
Brannock was underwent more than 10 surgeries as a result of her injuries, including the amputation of her left leg above the knee.
She was discharged and left for Baltimore 50 days after the attack.
"I'm very excited about getting home, but it's kind of bittersweet," Brannock told the Globe. "The [hospital] staff has been amazing."
Brannock, now wheelchair-bound, said she will now have to make adjustments. Doctors told Brannock she will have to wait to be fitted with a prosthesis. Her colleagues have started a fundraiser to help her with those costs, the Globe said.
