TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A Florida man who wrote about his desire to kill and eat a child has agreed to plead guilty to possessing and receiving child pornography, officials say.
Ronald William Brown, a professional puppeteer from Largo, could be sentenced to between 6 ½ to 10 years in federal prison, the Tampa Bay (Fla.) Times reported.
Brown, 57, was indicted only on the charges to which he admitted in the plea agreement. He could have faced much more serious charges of conspiring to kidnap a child.
Prosecutors said Brown wrote to a friend that he wanted to cook and eat a child for dinner, and that he had picked out a victim, a boy who attended his church.
No evidence has been presented that Brown actually harmed a child.
Court documents say Brown's laptop contained numerous pictures of child pornography and emails between him and another person about nude boys and babies.
The plea deal calls for Brown to register as a sex offender. He also will have to give up his laptop, a camera, a thumb drive, a cell phone, 63 CDs or DVDs and 30 books.
The agreement must be accepted by a federal judge.
