MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A Minneapolis man who was among those shot by a co-worker in a shooting spree died after being taken off life support, officials said.
Eric Rivers died overnight Wednesday after spending nearly two weeks on life support at Hennepin County Medical Center, the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press reported.
Rivers died of inju to the Sept. 27 workplace shooting in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood of Minneapolis.
Six people were killed by gunman Andrew Engeldinger before he turned the gun on himself. Two others survived the shooting and have been released from the hospital.
Rivers' family released a statement Thursday morning through the hospital: "We are grateful for the incredible courage displayed by the men and women who responded to the emergency and the wonderful medical team at Hennepin County Medical Center, who cared for Eric. At this time, the family asks for privacy as we deal with this personal tragedy. We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers."
