Tentative plea deal for former Walker aide

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Kelly Rindfleisch, a former aide to Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker, will plead guilty to at least one felony misconduct charge, her lawyer confirmed.

The trial of Rindfleisch, 43, on four felony misconduct charges for doing campaign work while working at her county job, was scheduled to begin next week, but a tentative deal was made with prosecutors, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Her lawyer, Franklyn Gimbel, confirmed the deal but said "it's a complicated, long story. We've agreed conceptually."

Rindfleisch was deputy chief of staff to Walker in 2010 when he was Milwaukee County executive and a candidate for governor. She was accused of making calls and sending emails on behalf of Brett Davis' campaign for lieutenant governor and contacting Walker campaign personnel, while at work and on the county payroll.

She would be the second former Walker staffer to plead guilty to criminal charges arising from an investigation of Walker aides and associates.

Darlene Wink, former county constituent relations coordinator, pleaded guilty to doing campaign work while on the job, and faces a fine and a year in jail, but her plea agreement calls for avoiding time in jail, the newspaper said.
