SANFORD, Fla., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Evidence released Wednesday in Florida indicates the gun used to kill Trayvon Martin contained no DNA from the unarmed teenager, prosecutors said.
Authorities in Sanford, Fla., said DNA reports and photos in the homicide case against George Zimmerman -- released Wednesday -- included no startling information, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.
Zimmerman told police he fired only after Martin reached for the gun Zimmerman wore on his waist in a holster. Florida Department of Law Enforcement tests on Zimmerman's gun and holster do not include DNA that matches Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old Zimmerman fatally shot Feb. 26.
The new information also included diagrams drawn by eyewitnesses to the assault, photos of the area of the shooting taken after it had been cleared of evidence, and a recorded interview with the convenience store clerk who served Martin before he was shot, the newspaper said.
Zimmerman, 28, who has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, is free on bail.
