Northern Utah wildfire nearly contained

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Utah firefighters worked Thursday to completely contain a wildfire that had blackened 61 acres in the Blue Sky ranching area, near the town of Wanship.

Some 16 structures that include rural homes, outbuildings and a cell phone tower were initially threatened by the Old Lincoln 4 Fire, which was spotted just after noon Wednesday, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

About 75 firefighters were battling the blaze, which Thursday morning was about 95 percent contained, Summit County Fire Warden Bryce Boyer said.

He said the fire was believed to have been caused by humans, but whether it began intentionally or accidentally could not yet be determined.

The National Weather Service issued a "Red Flag" wildfire danger for a large portion of northern Utah because of the potential for dry lightning.
