WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Before he discussed the U.S. education system at the Republican National Convention Thursday, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush had a few words for President Obama.

"So, Mr. President, it is time to stop blaming your predecessor for your failed economic policies," Bush said as a crowd broke out into cheers and applause at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Fla.

He acknowledged Obama was "dealt a tough hand."

"But your policies have not worked," Bush said. "In the fourth year of your presidency, a real leader would accept responsibility for his actions, and you haven't done it."

"Now that I've gotten that off my chest," Bush segued, "let's talk a little bit about our kids and education."
