Missing Memphis boy's body found in trash

MEMPHIS, July 4 (UPI) -- The body of a 3-year-old Memphis boy was found in a dumpster two days after his father reported him missing.

The father, Maurice Brown, has already been charged with child endangerment, The (Memphis) Commercial-Appeal reported. Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said he could face new charges once the medical examiner reports on his son's death.

A police officer searching for Maurice Brown Jr. found the boy's body Tuesday. It was in a trash bin behind an empty building.

Brown, who also has a 1-year-old son, told police when he reported the 3-year-old missing that he fell asleep and woke to find the apartment door open. But a neighbor said he saw Brown that evening leaving, carrying the boy over his shoulder, and investigators found blood in the apartment's bathroom.
