U.S., S. Korea, Japan plan naval exercise

WASHINGTON, June 14 (UPI) -- The United States, Japan and South Korea plan to hold a two-day naval exercise in international waters next week, the U.S. Defense Department says.

In its announcement Wednesday, the Pentagon said the exercise is scheduled for next Thursday and Friday. It will be held south of the Korean Peninsula in waters past any territorial boundaries, the Armed Forces Press Service said.

On Friday June 22 and Saturday June 23, U.S. and South Korean naval forces are scheduled to conduct a joint carrier operation in the Yellow Sea, west of South Korea.
