TIMPSON, Texas, May 17 (UPI) -- A 4.3-magnitude earthquake shook east Texas early Thursday, causing minor damage, authorities said.
The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the earthquake struck 3 miles east of Timpson at 3:12 a.m., KLTV, Tyler, Texas, reported.
An elderly woman fell out of bed and cut her arm, the Shelby County Sheriff's Department said.
The earthquake could be felt in south Arkansas and central Louisiana, said Bill Parker, senior meteorologist at the National Weather Center in Shreveport, La.
The temblor hit in the same area where a 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck last Thursday.
The latest quake sent bricks from a chimney crashing into a living room in one home.
Broken windows and fallen dishes also were reported.
The USGS said the strongest earthquake in east Texas was a 4.7-magnitude temblor near the Diana area in 1957.
