Florida millionaire John Goodman released on bail

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., May 16 (UPI) -- A Florida judge set stringent conditions Wednesday for the release of a millionaire appealing his conviction for killing another man in a drunken crash.

John Goodman, 48, must post a $7 million bond, the Palm Beach Post reported. He is to be confined to the International Polo Club property in Wellington, where he has both a home and an office and will pay for police officers to keep an eye on him 24 hours a day.

Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath imposed a complete ban on social activities, "including attending polo matches, charity events, membership events, parties or other private events."

Colbath set another unusual condition. If Goodman's plan to adopt his 42-year-old girlfriend is approved, another bail hearing will be scheduled.

More routine conditions include wearing an electronic monitor and random drug and alcohol testing.

Goodman was convicted of manslaughter in March and has been sentenced to 16 years in prison. In 2010, Scott Wilson, 23, drowned when Goodman, behind the wheel of a Bentley, struck his car, pushing it into a canal.

Investigators said Goodman did not report the crash for more than an hour.
