ORANGE, Calif., May 4 (UPI) -- A California man who led police on a high-speed chase was arrested on suspicion of killing his girlfriend and her two children, police said Friday.
Shazer Limas, 31, was wanted for questioning Thursday about the disappearances of his girlfriend, Arlet Hernandez, 31, and her 3-month-old and 2-year-old boys, The Orange County Register reported.
Police were called to the apartment Limas shared with Hernandez and her children Thursday morning after the complex's manager found blood in the apartment, Orange police Sgt. Dan Adams said.
"[Limas] moved out of the apartment several days ago," Adams said Thursday. "When management went in the apartment, the management found suspicious things that led them to call us."
Police found Limas driving later in the day. However, when officers tried to pull him over, he led them on a high-speed chase through Orange County, Adams said.
The chase ended in a 45-minute standoff with Limas surrendering, the Los Angeles Times reported.
He was arrested and questioned by police Thursday night "regarding the suspicious circumstances and if he knows the whereabouts of the mother and the two kids," Adams said.
Limas was charged with three counts of murder for the deaths of Hernandez and her children, Adams said Friday.
Adams said police believe Limas killed the three several days ago at the apartment and dumped the bodies elsewhere. The bodies haven't been found.
"We do know that there was some sort of an altercation in that apartment based on the evidence that we located," Adams said.
