SEFFNER, Fla., March 1 (UPI) -- A Florida elementary school teacher was arrested and charged for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old boy, law enforcement officials said.

Ethel Anderson, 29, a fifth grade teacher at Mango Elementary School in Seffner, Fla., was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of lewd battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation for an alleged sexual relationship she had with the boy, The Tampa Bay Times, St. Petersburg, Fla., reported.

The investigation into Anderson began when the boy's mother suspected he was having a relationship with an adult woman, sheriff's deputies said. She notified the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Anderson began the alleged relationship with the 12-year-old in December. The teacher allegedly invited the boy over to her home and engaged in "inappropriate touching" and oral sex, deputies said.

Anderson's husband, Michael, 30, said he was shocked by his wife's arrest.

"I'm still trying to wrap my head around what all just happened," he said Thursday.
