Nurses: Douglas Kennedy attacked us

NEW YORK, March 1 (UPI) -- Two nurses at a suburban New York hospital said Thursday a member of the Kennedy family was the instigator of a physical confrontation.

Anna Margaret Lane and Cari Maleman Luciano, who both work at Northern Westchester Hospital in White Plains, N.Y., described the incident in an interview aired on NBC's "Today" show.

Douglas Kennedy, a reporter for Fox News and son of the late Robert F. Kennedy, allegedly assaulted them when they tried to stop him from leaving the maternity ward with his 3-day-old son Jan. 7.

Kennedy faces a criminal charge. His wife, Molly, has filed a complaint about the hospital, and the nurses plan to file a lawsuit.

In the interview, Lane and Luciano said they were most concerned with protecting the baby. They said he assaulted them as they tried to block his way to the stairwell.

"I wanted to make sure the baby was safe and secure and he brought his leg up and kicked me, and I went flying through the air," Luciano said.
