FBI investigating alleged adoption rape

DAYTON, Ohio, March 1 (UPI) -- An Ohio man who allegedly sexually assaulted his three adopted sons is expected to face federal charges.

The FBI said Wednesday it is putting together a case against Kenneth H. Brandt, 39, of Troy and two men who allegedly had sex with one of the boys, Jason M. Zwick, 29, of Beavercreek and Patrick Rieder, 31, of Dayton, the Dayton Daily News reported. Agents were scheduled to meet Thursday with Troy, Beavercreek and Dayton police, and the U.S. attorney's office to discuss the case, Tim Ferguson, the FBI supervisor in Dayton said.

Brandt was arrested Friday.

Investigators said Brandt had adopted three boys from Texas, ages 9, 10 and 12, and a 9-year-old girl, also from Texas. One of the adoptions was not yet final.

Ferguson said investigators are trying to determine why the children were transferred from Texas to Ohio.

Brandt was a former president of the Foster Parent Association of Miami County. In a search warrant affidavit, Troy Detective Chris Tilley said he was also investigating Brandt's record as a foster father.
