Four die in Chicago-area car accident

OAK PARK, Ill., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- After a night of drinking in Chicago, a driver taunted his passengers before crashing into another car, killing four, including himself, a survivor alleged.

Eduardo Rodriguez explained from a hospital bed in Oak Lawn, Ill., that after a night of watching the Super Bowl in a bar with three friends, followed by bar-hopping and drinking, they left a strip club to be driven home by one of them, Gustavo Vargas, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"He was driving crazy. We told him to stop and he wouldn't listen," Rodriguez told the Tribune. "He was saying 'You guys ready to die?' He was screaming. We told him to stop playing around."

Vargas maneuvered his car in a U-turn on an Interstate highway, and collided head-on with another vehicle.

Vargas was killed as were two passengers, Jorge Pina and Armando Ruiz, and the driver of the other car, Jason Wepsiec. Rodriguez suffered a broken arm and broken finger.
