Video said to show peeping pediatrician

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Prosecutors Thursday released a video recorded by a woman who said it shows an Ann Arbor, Mich., pediatrician watching her 12-year-old daughter change clothes.

The video, released under a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Detroit Free Press, had been described in detail by a police detective seeking a warrant last fall to search the home of Dr. Howard Weinblatt, the newspaper reported.

Weinblatt, 65, pleaded no-contest as part of a plea agreement Tuesday to one felony count of surveilling an unclothed person.

The mother had told authorities she caught Weinblatt watching from his bathroom as her daughter changed clothes Oct. 18 and Oct. 21. She said she put an iPad in her daughter's room and used it to make the recording Oct. 28.

The recording, which runs nearly 2 minutes, shows a person authorities say they believe is Weinblatt looking out a window and appears to show him masturbating while looking toward the girl's bedroom window, the newspaper said.

The mother told police after she caught Weinblatt watching her daughter change a fourth time Oct. 31, she and her husband consulted an attorney and then went to police.

The Free Press said Weinblatt's two attorneys declined to comment on the video, and Weinblatt could not be reached.

Police said they searched Weinblatt's home Nov. 22 and seized computers that had more than 100 pornographic pictures that appeared to show children and teenagers.

Weinblatt, who resigned from his job at IHA Child Health-Ann Arbor, is to be sentenced March 6. He faces a maximum of two years in prison.
