Suspect seen in LA arson spree?

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Police in Los Angeles said they may have captured a surveillance image of a suspect in a New Year's arson spree in the Hollywood area.

Firefighters snuffed four more blazes Saturday night that appeared to be part of an outbreak of fires that were set primarily in garages and car ports around Hollywood.

Surveillance video at one of the fires showed a white male with a ponytail, apparently in his 30s, the Los Angeles Times said Sunday. It was not known if the man was seen actually setting the car on fire, his description was broadcast to police officers patrolling the area.

The LAPD has taken up the case with dozens of detectives joining the investigation. A $35,000 reward has been posted for information leading to a conviction.

The Times said investigators suspect more than one suspect is responsible for the fires.
