Man charged for duct-taping baby daughter

CHICAGO, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A Chicago man was charged with aggravated domestic battery Wednesday for allegedly gagging and binding his 22-month-daughter with tape, officials said.

Andre Curry, 21, allegedly posted a photo of his daughter, her limbs and mouth bound with tape, on Facebook with a caption that read: "This is wut happens wen my baby hits me back. ; )," the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

A woman who described herself as Curry's grandmother, but gave no name, told the Chicago Tribune he "feels awful" for the mistake.

"He's so playful, always laughing," said the woman. "Everyone who knows him saw the photo and laughed too. … He was only joking."

Curry's attorney, Anand Sundaran, said the child was never endangered and asked Judge Laura Sullivan to release her client on electronic monitoring.

Sullivan set bond at $100,000 and said Curry could have no contact with his daughter or any other children while his case was pending. The child was placed with her mother, the Tribune said.
