EMINGTON, Ill., Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Investigators say Sara McMeen of Emington, Ill., shot and killed her boyfriend and three children before turning the gun on herself.
Livingston County Sheriff Martin Meredith said McMeen, 30, shot and killed Daniel Warren, 29, and her three children -- 8-year-old Skyler Lemke, 7-year-old Ian Lemke and 10-month-old Maggie Warren -- Friday afternoon when the two older children returned home from school, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.
A semi-automatic 40-caliber handgun was found next to McMeen's hand. She died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the neck.
Police aren't offering any details on a possible motive but said they wanted to talk to anyone who had spoken to the couple before the shootings.
Neighbors said the family had mostly kept to themselves since moving into the small central Illinois town this year.
