HOLMES COUNTY, Ohio, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Police are investigating the shooting death of a 15-year-old Amish girl found along on a county road in Holmes County, Ohio, with a bullet wound to the head.
Rachel Yoder of Fredericksburg left a Christmas party at work in Holmes County about 10 p.m. Thursday with a friend. Holmes County Sheriff Timothy W. Zimmerly told The (Fredericksburg) Daily Record Yoder dropped off the friend a mile from Yoder's home.
Her brother noticed Yoder's horse and buggy circling the lane and notified their father, Melvin Yoder, who found Yoder on the ground next to the buggy when he went to investigate.
Investigators traced drops of Yoder's blood back to an intersection, The Cochocton Tribune reported.
Yoder died after being taken off life support Friday. An autopsy performed Sunday found she died from the gunshot, not from falling off the buggy as authorities first thought.
WTAM-AM, Cleveland, reported a motive for the shooting had yet to be found.
No arrests had been made and police were treating the case as a homicide.
