Baby Lisa unit disbanded

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Leads in the disappearance of a Missouri baby girl have slowed down, police in Kansas City said, prompting disbandment of a special unit trying to find her.

The police department said Tuesday the Lisa Irwin task force is being dissolved and the command post at the police academy shut down, although seven to eight detectives will remain involved in the investigation, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported. FBI agents will continue to work on the case.

Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley said their daughter, then 10 months old, vanished from their home Oct. 4. The couple moved back to the house last week.

Lisa turned 1 this month and was 10 months old when she disappeared.

Detectives will be reassigned to the case if needed, police said.

"The people who are working this are not going to let this go," Capt. Steve Young said. "But we have other cases and other victims."
