WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Job-related issues and the economy overshadow other issues as Americans' primary concerns, a Gallup Poll released Monday indicated.

Thirty-six percent of Americans said unemployment or jobs topped their list of key problems facing the United States and 30 percent cited the economy in general, Gallup said.

Only dissatisfaction with government, at 13 percent, was in double digits. Other topics included the federal budget deficit, lack of money, healthcare, moral or ethical decline, immigration, education, inflation or the high cost of living, and war.

Concern about the economy helps explain the high level of dissatisfaction with current conditions in the United States, the Princeton, N.J., polling firm said. Eighty-six percent of Americans expressed dissatisfaction with the way things are going in the United States and 12 percent said they were satisfied, Gallup said.

Results are based on nationwide telephone interviews with 1,012 adults conducted Nov. 3-6. The margin of error is 4 percentage points.
