WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The Democratic Party announced Thursday it tabbed a venerable Washington company to help put together the 2012 national convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Hargrove was awarded the contract for the event services at the Sept. 3-6 convention and will handle all of the decoration, build-outs and other tasks necessary to accommodate some 35,000 delegates, party officials and the ladies and gentlemen of the press.

"We could not be more proud to support this extraordinary event," Hargrove President Mary Hargrove McGill said in a written statement. "Our legacy of creating world-class events has positioned us to win this important business."

Hargrove has been involved in a wide range of Washington-area conventions and events over the past decades, including presidential inaugurations and their accompanying galas plus the recent dedication of the Martin Luther King memorial on the National Mall.

Hargrove will work in concert with Rogers, Russell and Hunt Construction and other subcontractors in North Carolina.

"All of the firms demonstrated an ability to work effectively with union labor and share a commitment to sustainability," the statement said.
