DAVIE, Fla., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A Florida woman is in jail after she allegedly walked out of a store with bags of stolen goods, leaving her 6-year-old behind, police said.

Deirdre Grant, 40, of Miami, was stopped after she walked out of a Target store Tuesday afternoon in Davie, Fla., with $372.91 worth of merchandise that she had allegedly taken out of the store without stopping to pay, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Security cameras showed her daughter had been left alone in the pet aisle at the back of the store, the report said.

Grant, who was free on bond on a previous theft charge, was charged with grand theft and child neglect. She was placed in a Broward County jail. The Department of Children and Families was being contacted about appointing a guardian for the girl, the newspaper said.
