NEW YORK, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Bird strikes on two different airliners were reported at New York's Kennedy Airport Tuesday, airport officials said.

Delta Flight 149, bound for Orlando, Fla., was struck shortly after takeoff, with damage to the plane's nose and radar that caused the pilot to turn around and land back at the airport.

"The captain said the bird hit the nose and we have to change the plane for safety reasons," passenger Dennis Constim told the New York Post.

"It's better to make the change than to take the risk," Constim, 30, said.

Another bird struck a JetBlue flight that was about to land, airport officials said.

There were no injuries on either aircraft, they said.
