NEW YORK, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, in a new video, says the United States has been defeated in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The message, released Tuesday, celebrates the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan and Iraq. He said recent regime changes in the Middle East are defeats for the United States, ABC News reported.

"(Osama bin Laden) attacked America at its core in the biggest attacks since Pearl Harbor," Zawahiri, wearing a white turban and sitting in an armchair, said in the video released on jihadist Web sites.

It is the sixth message released by Zawahiri since the death of bin Laden in May.

"America today is staggering," said Zawahiri. "Hunt her down wherever you may encounter her. Hunt her down to cut what is left of her corruption's tail."
