Witnesses testify Casey Anthony lied

ORLANDO, Fla., June 2 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in the Florida murder trial of Casey Anthony presented evidence and testimony intended to show she is a liar, observers said.

Jurors in Orlando listened to a conversation between Anthony and Orange County detectives the day after her 2-year-old daughter Calylee Marie Anthony was reported missing, during which they told her to stop telling lies and reveal her daughter's location, the Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday.

Casey Anthony, 25, is charged with the slaying of her daughter in 2008.

Casey Anthony allegedly made up stories about a nanny, Zenaida Gonzalez, who had custody of Caylee during the month after the child's death, while acknowledging she lied about a number of other things, including employment at Universal Orlando.

In the taped interview, Casey Anthony said she was not lying in her story about the nanny.

Jeff Hopkins, an acquaintance of Casey Anthony's, testified he never introduced the defendant to a babysitter, the newspaper reported.

Hopkins and other witnesses said Casey Anthony told lies to friend and police about where she worked and about what happened to Caylee, The Washington Post reported.
