Texas trailer blaze claims four lives

CONROE, Texas, May 15 (UPI) -- Four people were killed Sunday when fire destroyed a mobile home outside of Houston, officials said.

The Conroe Fire Department said a woman and three children died and three other people were injured in the pre-dawn blaze.

The Houston Chronicle said the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames when the first engines arrived.

Firefighters told KTRK-TV, Houston, that three people escaped the blaze before they arrived. All three were suffering smoke inhalation and one had cuts from an unsuccessful attempt to reach the trapped occupants.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
