Missiles, machine gun found in eviction

ATLANTA, April 14 (UPI) -- Police in Georgia say a residential eviction in a subdivision filled with foreclosures turned up missiles and a machine gun on the property.

Sheriff's deputies in Rockdale County said they called in state and federal agents and eventually contacted the U.S. Air Force for help in identifying the missiles, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday.

"They discovered all sorts of strange weapons," Rockdale County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Jodi Shupe said.

The Air Force was called after U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents inspected the weapons and were unsure what to do with them. A bomb squad destroyed two of the missiles.

The evicted resident will probably not be charged with a crime, Shupe said, so police were not releasing his identity.

"He apparently was a collector," Shupe said.
