Stray plane sparks U.S. Capitol evacuation

WASHINGTON, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Police gave the all clear Saturday after the U.S. Capitol was ordered evacuated due to a suspicious aircraft in the Washington area, The Washington Post said.

Capitol Police officials said the bogey landed and was determined not to be a threat to the Capitol or any other buildings.

The Post said police sent an e-mail to anyone who might have been in the Capitol complex on New Year's Day.

No details were immediately available about the plane, which entered restricted airspace over the capital city.
