Woman charged with pimping teens

TACOMA, Wash., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Police and federal prosecutors say a Tacoma, Wash., woman kept two 13-year-old runaways in her apartment and pimped them outside a doughnut shop.

Sadina Devona Rice was to appear in U.S. District Court Thursday, charged with two counts of sex trafficking, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.

Police and members of an anti-child prostitution task force opened an investigation resulting in the arrest after the mother of one of the girls requested help to return her daughter home.

Rice allegedly told the girls they could stay at her home as long as they "worked."

"(The girl) told Rice that she did not want to pose (for) the pictures and did not want to sleep with men for money," an officer assigned to the regional Innocence Lost task force said. "Rice stated that if she didn't prostitute, she'd have to leave."

Rice's apartment was raided Sept. 23 and the second girl was discovered inside, the newspaper said.

"She appeared scared and upset," a task force officer told the court about the second child. "She cried as she told me she wanted us to help her get away from Rice."

In charging documents, the girl said "johns" would meet Rice at the doughnut shop, and then take them to an apartment to have sex. Rice allegedly took all the money the girls were paid.
