Body parts in Fla. all from one victim

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Body parts found scattered miles apart along waterways near Fort Lauderdale. Fla., are from the same male victim, authorities said.

Testing confirmed a head found Nov. 14 in Dania Beach has the same DNA as other body parts found Nov. 6 in Fort Lauderdale, The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday.

The man may have been killed between Oct. 31 and Nov. 4, Frank Sousa, spokesman for Fort Lauderdale police, said.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the victim, said to be white, 5-foot-8 to 6 feet tall.

He wore thick prescription eyeglasses and a pair of gray size 10 New Balance sneakers, police said.

The first body parts were found inside a container floating in a waterway.

The body had been cut up and the container filled with concrete to sink it, police said.

Investigators at the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office chipped through the concrete and found several body parts, Sousa said.

Eight days later the man's head was found on a bank of a canal in a bucket filled with concrete, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
