WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- An arraignment hearing for a Florida man accused of killing four family members Thanksgiving Day has been postponed, officials say.

Paul Michael Merhige, 35 had been expected in a West Palm Beach, Fla., court Monday to enter a plea after being indicted in the slayings of his twin sisters, his aunt and his cousin's 6-year-old daughter at a Thanksgiving dinner in his cousin's Jupiter, Fla., home, the Palm Beach, Fla., Post reported.

But state's attorneys indicated the hearing has been rescheduled for Friday, the newspaper said. They have said they will seek the death penalty for Merhige.

The Post reported Public Defender Carey Haughwout has asked the judge in the case to prevent all evidence against her client from being released to the public and the media, and reportedly has requested all attorneys, police and witnesses be barred from commenting publicly on the case.
