JERUSALEM, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- International negotiators should work toward the complete dismantling of Iran's "nuclear weapons program," the Israeli prime minister said Wednesday.
Inspectors with the International Atomic Energy Agency are expected in Tehran next week. The IAEA has said there may be a military dimension to certain parts of Iran's nuclear program.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said during a meeting in Jerusalem with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry more work was needed to discourage Iran.
"I believe that it's possible, with intense pressure because of the sanctions regime led in large part by the United States, to get Iran to fully dismantle its nuclear weapons program," he said.
Delegates from the United States, its counterparts on the U.N. Security Council and Germany are expected to resume nuclear negotiations this week in Geneva. Three rounds of talks so far this year were described as amicable but resulted in few concrete breakthroughs.
Kerry said the primary goal should be to ensure Iran's nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
"It is incumbent on us, a responsibility of the world, to know with certainty that it is a peaceful program and there is no capacity to produce a weapon of mass destruction," he said. "That's our goal."
