WASHINGTON, April 21 (UPI) -- The FBI announced the appointment of a more than 20-year agency veteran as the new assistant director of its Criminal Justice Information Services division.
FBI Director Robert Mueller has named Daniel Roberts the CJIS assistant director. Roberts, who has been with the FBI since 1987, will be promoted from his current deputy assistant director position at the FBI Criminal Investigative Division, the FBI reported.
Officials said Roberts has expertise in violent crime, organized crime and drug investigations and has served as the assistant special agent in charge during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, among other assignments.
"Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position and will continue the legacy of CJIS that involves sharing data with over 18,000 law-enforcement partners," Mueller said in a statement.
