PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- A South Philadelphia man became so furious over a talkative family's interference with his movie-watching that he shot the father in the arm, police allege.

Joseph Cialella, 31, allegedly returned to his seat and continued to watch "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. His watching was interrupted by police who arrested him on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

"It's truly frightening when you see something like this evolve into such violence, that something like this leads to a shooting in a movie theater," said Police Lt. Frank Vanore.

The shooting occurred Christmas afternoon at the Riverview Theater, a large multiplex on the Delaware River in South Philadelphia.

Witnesses said the confrontation between Cialella and the family escalated as he first threw popcorn at one of the children and then left his seat and confronted the family. When the father hit him, Cialella allegedly revealed a .380-caliber Kel-Tec handgun clipped to the waistband of his sweat pants and opened fire.
