British detectives return to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- British experts investigating the assassination of Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan Thursday reportedly to present their reports to government authorities.

The three-member Scotland Yard team, which was invited by the Islamabad government to assist in the investigation of the Dec. 27 killing of the former prime minister at a Rawalpindi election rally, is expected to present its findings this week, the Press Trust of India reported.

The detectives declined to talk to waiting reporters and were escorted by a police team.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's government has blamed Baitullah Mehsud of plotting Bhutto's death, but the Pakistani Taliban commander, whose forces are locked in bitter fighting against military troops in the tribal areas, has denied the charge.

Authorities last month arrested a 15-year-old boy, who reportedly claimed he was sent by Mehsud as part of a five-member suicide team to target Bhutto.

Separately, there were reports authorities had arrested two more people Thursday.
