Home invaders kill infant and dad

SACRAMENTO, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Detectives searched for clues in the shooting deaths of an infant and his 21-year-old father during a home invasion in southeast Sacramento.

Police said Sean Paul Aquitania and 7-month Sean Paul Jr. were innocent victims who appear to have been at the wrong place at the wrong time, The Sacramento Bee reported Monday.

"To be so cold-hearted to shoot a child -- I don't know," said lead detective Dan Cabral. "To touch an innocent, innocent child like this is unbelievable."

Aquitania had reportedly visited his son's godfather Friday afternoon when two armed men rushed into the man's tract house apparently attempting an armed robbery, police told the Bee.

Aquitania was shot twice in his upper body as he tried to leave the house to get Sean Jr., who was still sitting in his car seat.

For no apparent reason, police say, the robbers shot the baby in the back of the head as they fled the scene.
