Mom, boyfriend allegedly hid son's body

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Investigators say a California woman helped her boyfriend bury her son’s body in the desert and kept the death secret for months.

Kathryn Jimenez was being held in California on a kidnapping charge, while her boyfriend, Samuel Corona, was fighting extradition from Arizona, The San Jose Mercury News reported.

Corona allegedly kicked Oscar Jimenez Jr., 6, to death in February. Investigators say the couple then drove to Arizona and buried the body in Phoenix, with Corona coming back later to cover the grave with cement.

Jimenez last weekend led authorities to the grave.

Oscar Jimenez Sr. said he last saw his son in January when he dropped him off at school. A few days later, his estranged wife asked for a restraining order, claiming he had abused his son, but she failed to show up for a court hearing.

Oscar Jimenez Sr. filed a complaint against Kathryn Jimenez in August after months of fruitless phone calls. When she was arrested, she initially told police the boy had run away.
