NAACP delegates cheer Bush bashing

DETROIT, July 13 (UPI) -- Delegates to the NAACP presidential forum in Detroit cheered for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama and had plenty of applause for any criticism of President George Bush.

Obama, D-Ill, is the only African-American hopeful in the field of presidential candidates and received thunderous applause at Thursday's session, the Detroit Free Press reported.

U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, drew a huge response when he challenged other candidates to support the impeachment of U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, the Free Press reported. The other Democrats, including Obama, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former U.S. Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., declined to support the Cheney impeachment but did vow to undo many Bush initiatives, the newspaper reported.

The only Republican who accepted the NAACP's invitation was U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.

"This is my kind of debate," Tancredo said, the Free Press reported.
