Nifong saving talking for courtroom

RALEIGH, N.C., April 14 (UPI) -- The prosecutor in the Duke lacrosse rape case isn't saying much, now that the North Carolina State Bar has refused to dismiss an ethics complaint against him.

At least one heckler joined the mob of television crews, photographers and reporters who followed Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong to his car after Friday's hearing, The Raleigh News & Observer reported.

"You'll look good in an orange jumpsuit," the man yelled.

Nifong faces disciplinary proceedings that could cost him his license to practice law. His lawyer argued unsuccessfully Friday that the Disciplinary Hearing Commission should dismiss the most serious ethics complaint -- that Nifong failed to turn over exculpatory DNA evidence to lawyers for three Duke lacrosse players in a timely fashion.

While his lawyer described Nifong as a man who has spent his entire life in public service, Nifong remained silent.

"I'll do my talking inside the courtroom," he said.
