Pakistan to share intelligence with India

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Pakistan has agreed to share anti-terrorism intelligence with India through the international police organization Interpol, a Pakistani official says.

"We share information with India about any most wanted person through Interpol and if New Delhi has issued red warrants of any criminal, Pakistan will fully cooperate," Pakistan's Interior Minister Aftab Khan Sherpao told the Pakistani Geo TV in Islamabad.

The announcement follows a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Havana, Cuba, the Press Trust of India said Sunday.

The two leaders decided at the summit "to put in place an India-Pakistan anti-terrorism institutional mechanism to identify and implement counter-terrorism initiatives and investigations," a joint statement said.

The new intelligence sharing will be similar to that between the United States and Britain, Sherpao said.
